Crash Into You by Katie McGarry

Crash into You - Katie McGarry

“His words are a sandblaster against my soul,

decimating my insides,

crushing my bones,

leaving me as a completely empty shell.”

Sooooo…. typing that was as painful as reading it the first time around. What’s worse: she’s not the only one prone to making overblown comparisons. Him on her: “Rachel’s this brilliant flame blazing in the darkness.” Aagh! My eyes! My poor brain! In essence, there’s a lot of dramatics in this one at the heels of some gymnastics with the figures of speech. Things could get scary over the top in that department. And yet, like the first two books in the series: I may be, COULD HAVE, liked it.

It’s not just kids on the opposite sides of town and a cute-meet. There are issues for both of them here, though the fact that the both have ISSUES sometimes did go over board. He is punk kid. She is rich girl. They’re both more. He is punk kid with mommy issues etcetera, etcetera. She is rich girl with overprotective brothers with secrets of their own as well. Its all about secrets this one, and how each their own is about to come out and bit them on their respective rear-ends. Fun times! If only that were true:

The main story is them matching up and seeing each other’s “something more.” The side stories range from her and her brothers close connections, to her hiding her true self, to him working on letting go but not really. Things go toward the “dangerous” with elements of races and douche-sounding baddies.

So this is another could have, should have, and would have for me: It could have been about one of those things instead of all of those things. Plus, they should have all been less prone to dramatics and comparative gymnastics. Then maybe, just may be, I would have liked this more.
